Welcome to the photography section of our TSG Skincare Competition course. Capturing accurate and compelling before-and-after photos is crucial for your case study. Whether you use a high-quality smartphone or a professional camera, the key is to ensure your images are clear and represent your work honestly.

Remember, photo editing is strictly prohibited. This means no retouching, smoothing, color correction, or any alterations that change the true appearance of the skin. Any photos that appear to be edited will result in disqualification.

A vital component of your photo submission is verifying the timeline of your case study. This is why we require date watermarks on all your photos.

  • Date Watermark Methods:
    • iOS:
      • While some iOS versions may offer a date watermark option within the camera settings, it’s not consistently available.
      • For consistent date stamping, we recommend using third-party apps.
    • Android:
      • You can typically find a ‘Date Stamp’ or ‘Date & Time Stamp’ option within your camera settings.
    • Recommended Apps (for iOS and Android):
      • ‘Timestamp Camera Free’
      • ‘Open Camera’ (Android)
      • ‘PhotoMarks’
    • Alternative Method:
      • Use a current newspaper in your photos to display the date.
      • The same newspaper must be used in both your ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos.
      • Whatever method you choose, it must be used for the entirety of your case study.

Lighting is paramount for showcasing the true results of your treatments. Aim for consistent, even lighting in both your before and after photos.

  • Lighting Guidelines:
    • Natural light is ideal.
    • If using artificial light, maintain the same setup for all photos.
    • Avoid harsh shadows and glare.

Similarly, take your before and after photos in the same location and from the same angles.

  • Setting Requirements:
    • Consistent background.
    • Consistent angles.
    • Consistent location.

For your submission, we require three ‘before’ photos and three ‘after’ photos.

  • Photo Requirements:

    • ‘Before’ Photos (Day 1):
      • Front view of the face.
      • Left side view of the face.
      • Right side view of the face.
    • ‘After’ Photos (Day 56):
      • Front view of the face.
      • Left side view of the face.
      • Right side view of the face.
  • Timeline:

    • ‘Before’ photos must be taken on Day 1, before any treatments are administered.
    • ‘After’ photos must be taken on or before Day 56, at the conclusion of your case study.

To help you visualize these requirements, we’ll provide examples of correctly and incorrectly taken photos. We’ll also offer step-by-step tutorials on enabling date watermarks and a checklist to ensure you capture compliant photos. By following these guidelines, you’ll be well-prepared to submit accurate and impactful before-and-after photos for your TSG Skincare case study.”
